This is the inaugural book in a series by Tim Simpson. Set in the Victorian era, New York City Commissioner Theodore Roosevelt is tasked with reorganizing the police department amid a series of murders that seem to be committed by an animal. However, he is not the sole person seeking the killer; millionaire entrepreneur J.P. Morgan desires the legendary figure for his own benefit. Throughout the journey, some of history's most notable figures, including Thomas Edison, Harry Houdini, Arthur Conan Doyle, and others, become involved.

In the old west during the 1880s, the natives refer to the shape-shifting beast known as werewolves as the Amarok; they exist in America, particularly in the Wild West.

Angus has returned, but before he went to New York to confront Theodore Roosevelt, he was in Tombstone, devising a plan to help him restore the wolf population. In this quest, he successfully identified some ruthless young men, including Jesse and Frank James, the Youngers, Billy the Kid, and others. However, obstacles lie ahead, particularly with Wyatt Earp and his brothers, Doc Holliday, Bat Masterson, Luke Short, Geronimo, Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickok, among many others, blocking his path.

The Amarok is present, facing off against history's most renowned lawmen, as well as some who skirt the law, such as Johnny Ringo, Sherman McMasters, Curly Bill Brocius, Ike and Billy Clanton, the McLaurys, and many others. The Wild West is about to become significantly wilder.
