Magnum Opus

The Story

Tony Rossi was an Italian boy growing up in the streets of Chicago during the 1920s. His father is ill, and his mother works tirelessly to support their three children, but all Tony dreams of is becoming an entertainer, an actor, a Star! Unfortunately, that's just a distant fantasy for a boy in a poverty-stricken environment where gangsters control the city. The mayors, law enforcement, and shop owners are all under the mob's influence, leaving young Tony with little choice but to join them to help support his mother, ailing father, talented sister, and younger brother.

Tommy Feldman, Tony’s best friend, hails from a Jewish family that can endure the tough times and provide a decent life for him. Like Tony, Tommy yearns for the spotlight, but unlike Tony, he has the resources to pursue his dreams. Tommy seizes this opportunity by joining a vaudeville circuit to embark on a career in entertainment.

Join Tony and Tom as they navigate the challenges of the 1920s and beyond in their pursuit of wealth and stardom. Along the way, they encounter famous and notorious entertainers, gangsters, corrupt politicians, along with drugs, alcohol, death, and heartache, all in their quest to realize their dreams.
